The Rare Breeding Birds Panel (RBBP) is an independent body which works to support bird conservation and research in the UK through the collation, archiving and reporting of data on rare breeding birds. We can be contacted via our secretary: Mark Eaton secretary@rbbp.org.uk

The RBBP processes personal data for the purpose of communicating with data providers, such as county bird recorders and others involved in the collection and provision of data on rare breeding birds. The lawful basis for this processing is legitimate interests, because these communications are necessary for the RBBP to perform its function of collating, archiving and reporting data on rare breeding birds in the UK for conservation purposes.

The data held are restricted to name, position, email and postal address, and is held securely in an offline database administered by the RBBP secretary; data is not shared with any other parties in the UK or elsewhere, or used for any other purpose. Data are retained whilst an individual remains engaged in activities relevant to the RBBP and are retained no more than three years from the end of such activity. Individuals are free to contact the RBBP, using the details provided above, at any time to request a copy of the personal data held, and can request that the RBBP rectify or delete all personal data it holds on them. If you have any concerns about how your data are being used, we will endeavour to answer any questions you have. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office Information Commissioner’s Office. You also have the right to an effective judicial remedy against decisions of the Information Commissioner’s Office, or against members of the RBBP.
