The Rare Breeding Birds Panel collates data on the rare non-native species breeding, or showing signs of breeding, in the UK. A rare non-native breeder is classed as a species which is not native to the UK and which has 300 or fewer breeding pairs in the UK. A small number of these are regular breeders, rather more occasional only, and others have so far only showed signs of potential breeding; but, generally, non-native species are under-recorded and we encourage records of any non-native species showing signs of breeding (e.g. pairs in suitable breeding habitat or single birds of the more elusive species such as pheasants) to be reported to county and regional recorders so that the data can be collated and submitted to the RBBP.
